hope you all had a weekend filled with fun holiday preparations and some relaxing too. we went to a holiday open house at forty1 north on thursday night here in newport, ri. there was the christmas tree lighting, carolers, and spirits. the girls had fun hanging out with kids their age and we met some new people in the area. on saturday we headed to clarks christmas tree farm in tiverton, ri and found a frasier fir. the girls didn't want to leave because they got to ride sparky, the pony, and chase around the chickens and farm dog. that night we met friends at the bowen's wharf christmas tree lighting where we got to see santa and mrs. claus arrive by boat. after living in newport for 6+ months, i can say that it is starting to feel like home. i love taking advantage of all the things going on in the town and soaking up the holiday spirit.
this photo is from skona hem and i just love the mix of moss, birch bark, figs and evergreen branches. the warm glow of the candles in this arrangement makes me think of a scandinavian ski lodge. so cozy.
