a valentine's day party

a valentine's day party has been the talk of the house with the girls the last month. it has been so much fun bouncing ideas off of them as they get so excited about inviting their new friends they have made in maine. we have met so many nice families in the area and thought it would be a great opportunity to bring everyone together for some food, drink, heart sugar cookie decorating and valentine making.

these photos were taken before our guests arrived. with 38 people coming i wanted to have hands free for hugs, drink dispensing, heart making and icing and sprinkle decorating.

  4. Looks amazing and I'm inspired.

On another note, I'd love to hear how you like life with your white painted floors. I'm dying to do this in our main living room but everyone keeps weighing in on it (and by everyone I mean two or three people but it's been enough to intimidate me) and telling me not to paint the floor.

    1. p.s. And I meant to say how beautiful your place looks; I find your aesthetic to be so appealing and inspiring (I keep using that word, but it's the one that expresses what I mean).

    2. hi sarah! happy valentine's day to you and your family! i hear you with everyone weighing in. i don't think one person supported us in our decision to paint the floors white, but josh and i have talked about doing it for years and we have always been a bit rebellious so we went for it. we love them! you do have to sweep and vacuum more often. we aren't trying to go for the white pristine, perfect white floor look. we prefer the paint chipped and worn over time from our walking patterns so to keep it real and more like the maine aesthetic. if you are heading north you are always welcome to come take a peek. best, molly

    3. Thanks for your answer Molly! I'll let you know if we go for it and if we do, I'll just tell all the naysayers that it worked for you, and that's good enough for me... Would love to take a peek someday when the weather turns and we all venture out of our homes again. Thanks so much for your response and Happy Early Spring! (I'm feeling optimistic tonight. :)
