this is the second year we have had a little pre trick-or-treating party on halloween night. in the past, halloween has been sort of anticlimactic, so we decided to cease the moment and celebrate with friends. we had three other families over and decorated the house in friendly halloween decorations because we had some young kiddos. i served slow cooker pulled pork sandwiches with coleslaw (recipe from cook's illustrated).
the kids have so much fun each year that i vow i have to do it again next. and my favorite costumes this year were the jelly fish made from old umbrellas that were spray painted white and then tentacles made from packing bubbles, white tissue and packing peanuts.
